Xukuri Xukuri in the Tribal Link Project Access training program for the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (UNPFII) 16th Session, 24th April - 5th May 2017; in New York City USA.
Many years ago, His Imperial Highness Emperor Haile Selassie also said:
"What brings people together is not only history, culture and geography but also the various voluntary social associations as well as economic interests and sharing infirmities or benefits in common; that is very clear."
In my observed but humble opinion, my San brother Xukuri epitomises the statement behind him in the photo above AND the statement made by His Imperial Highness Emperor Haille Selassie of Ethiopia.
He was quiet on the first day of training and did not stand out, he was too busy listening and learning, for his sense of responsibility to his people trumps any other consideration in his life.
It is important to note that Xukuri left his people in their rural territory to become University educated, but he forsake an urban life with a high salary because it would only serve his personal interests and NOT serve the greater needs of his entire tribe..so he chose to return to live among them himself and share his knowledge with them and serve them directly. Few human beings today would make this kind of personal sacrifice to become an asset to the collective if it meant LOSING money (for we have become greedy). Our EGOS always try to divert us from our responsibilities to our fellow-man.
Xukuri is not a large man, far from it...however, when this brother begins to speak - it is with the bravery of a Lion and piercing foresight of a mighty Eagle, if the Government authorities of Botswana are persons of wisdom, they would do more to bring true justice and national harmony - and AVOID the current international scorn they have earned due to their sub-standard treatment of indigenous peoples in that country...by reaching OUT to people like Xukuri, not to bribe them to do the government's bidding like hungry mascots or political puppets who put their mouths wherever the soup is leaking from the Government pot, but instead to LISTEN to his many positive ideas - and help them to become reality on the ground for the dispossessed indigenous communities who need TRUE justice and respectable treatment the most!
Xukuri was in New York attending the 16th Session of the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues at UN Headquarters, and he received a pre-UNPFII training course from the world-renowned & Internationally coveted Tribal Link Project Access Training Program for the UNPFII taught by respected Indigenous Rights expert Andrea Carmen of the International Indian Treaty Council/IITC, and co-mentored by Ghazali Ohorela (Alifaru), Damon Corrie (Lokono-Arawak), Tai Pellicier (Taino-Arawak), and Victor Anthony Lopez-Carmen (Yaqui & Lakota).

Our noble-hearted brother Xukuri Xukuri of the ancient San Tribal Nation (the oldest living people to inhabit the African continent) in Botswana, speaks briefly about the VITAL importance of indigenous peoples thinking less about what their people can do for them - and MORE about what they can do for their people!.
